Living Water United Church of Christ

Meeting People at the Wells of their Life and Loving Them Enough not to Leave Them There!

Living Water United Church of Christ was found as a Non- Denominational Church affliated with Higher Ground Christian Fellowship International in April of 2004.   In October of 2006, we became a congregation that is also a member of the United Church of Christ.

The founding members consisted of 7 adults and 2 youth.  We are growing quickly... Today Living Water has over 60 adult and youth members.  We are located in the revitalizing community of North Philadelphia that is rich with both cultural and ethnic treasures.

Living Water is committed to being a congregation that all people may find a place to worship and serve God through Jesus Christ.  No matter your race, gender, gender orientation, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic level, education, zip code, area code or whatever else people use to separate themselves you will find it is not a problem at Living Water.

What might you experience when visiting Living Water.  People dressed in jeans and t-shirts to suits with ties and dresses.  The music in the worship service is blended representing the best of contemporary worship with some traditional hymns and songs.  There are both free flowing and traditional prayers.  The preaching is relevant and practical with the power of the Holy Spirit at work within the body.  On First Sunday each month we celebrate Holy Communion.  Baptisms are held several times throughout the year.

Children and youth are a major part of our congregation.  They participate on the praise team, read scripture and each week a special message is geared towards them.  In 2007 we began our Teen fellowship and monthly family night activities.  Currently, several of our youth and adults are completing a program to become HIV/AIDS peer educators.

On Tuesday Night, beginning at 6:45 PM, Living Water has congregational prayer and then at 7:30 PM we have Bible study.  We have been studying the scripture from the beginning.  In addition, we have some Saturday seminars and classes.  All new members of the congregation must complete new members classes which are held on Sunday mornings before service and on some Thursday nights when necessary.

The members of Living Water tend to be down to earth and loving folks.  We welcome you to come and spend sometime getting to know us.  We aren't your average church but last time I checked we don't serve an average God.

Living Water Redeeming, Restoring, Renewing ahhh...that's Refreshing!
